IS TALENT OVERRATED?

How do we become great and unlock the secrets of talent?

These are areas at WBI that we focus on daily in our training. We are not just baseball coaches. We are also researchers that aspire to become great ourselves. It is easy to take the conventional approach to coaching or teaching, but at WBI we long to become the only "hot bed" for baseball and softball development in the area.

We have developed a very specific curriculum and training model. It begins with Reverse Training. We basically take a large complex skill like hitting or pitching and break it down into smaller parts, then teach it backwards. This strategy is extremely effective and gives the athlete an opportunity to succeed and a sense of completion with every repetition, compared to more conventional approaches where the athlete often gets lost through the process.

This Reverse Training blended with T.R.I.P. Baseball Training (technique, repetition, intent, and persistence) will allow for an athlete to explode in his/her development. These four components of "the TRIP" are key ingredients to developing athletes. One must train deliberately, often, and practice the correct technique.

NEW!
Time Slots for Hitting and Pitching Programs

After twenty years in baseball, I needed to learn what was new in the sport so I could teach my 12 year old son and his team to be stronger and smarter. WBI has shown me how to make these kids stronger and more agile at the same time. I have incorporated many of the core training techniques into our stretching exercises and our daily routines. The Hitting and Fielding Drills that they use allow us to identify specific areas that the kids need to address. I especially value the emphasis that WBI places on proper conditioning and the overall safety of the kid’s and their arms. My team is a better team, and my child is stronger and better prepared for this season because of the time he has spent with Scott Watson and the WBI staff. - Jeff Behrman
