Why WBI Sports?

THE INSTRUCTION – We have developed a superior model for training baseball and softball players in the area.  We understand HOW to train kids, the differences between conventional wisdom and what really works, and how important personal development and confidence is.  Our focus is on process, not outcome.  Too many kids fall behind due to coaches focusing on outcome and not providing the proper training.  We don’t just rely on our playing days.  Things have changed and are continuously changing.

There is a great deal of research out there today and we have been more than fortunate to have learned from it.  Our mentors have played a major role in this while helping develop WBI into what it is today.  They are always keeping us in the loop so to speak.  Some of our mentors and friends include:

  • Ken Knutson – current Throwing Coordinator for the Cleveland Indians, former Arizona State University Pitching Coach,  Associate Head Coach, and Recruiting Coordinator (former UW Head Baseball Coach)

  • Joe Ross – current NW Area Scouting Supervisor for the Kansas City Royals, former Seattle Mariners NW Area Scouting Supervisor (former UW Recruiting Coordinator And Hitting/Catching Coach) and Recruiting Coordinator and Hitting Coach for the WSU Cougars

  • Ron Wolforth - Texas Baseball Ranch - featured on ESPN, 60 minutes, and in Sports Illustrated

  • Ashly Yeo – baseball researcher and enthusiast, PhD from Iowa University

  • Gary Hatch – former Sehome Head Baseball Coach, former Bellingham Bells Head Baseball Coach, 2 time Gold Medalist as a Head Coach (2007) and Assistant Coach (2006) for the USA 16u National Team

  • Travis Jewett – current Head Coach at Tulane University

  • Derek Johnson – current Pitching Coach for the Milwaukee Brewers

  • Brent Strom - current Pitching Coach for the Houston Astros

  • Perry Husband - Hitting is a Guess - www.hittingisaguess.com

  • Gregg Swenson - former Pitching Coach U of Portland/WSU

WBI will challenge you physically and mentally while building your game IQ.  Emphasis will be put on building a toolbox for learning.  Participants can expect a college/professional approach in terms of quality of instruction, organization, and repetition.  I personally guarantee you that WBI is not your ordinary, commercial training facility.  Our goal is to keep YOU in the game as long as possible.  We have helped many kids get to the next level – high school, college, and professional.

OUR STAFF – Our instructors are coaches too.  We won’t just develop your sons swing or arm, but will also teach Baseball Intelligence.  You will get more specialized attention at WBI.

FACILITY - We have a 5,000 square foot training facility.  WBI, located in North Bothell/East Lynnwood and near the freeway, is one of the nicest training facilities in the area.  It is fully equipped, very clean and organized.
