WARNING: Below is a sample of what your pitching coach may be telling you. Not only is it incorrect information, but its keeping you from reaching your true potential.
- Slow down you are rushing
- Get to a balance point
- Keep your weight back
- Make an arm circle
|
- Don’t short arm the ball
- Stop landing on your heel
- Point your glove or make a “T”
- Pull your glove to your chest
|
Additionally, it is alarming to think that today’s pitchers not only have incorrect information, but are learning to pitch when they should learn to throw first, and then pitch. To top it off, their training model is defined by a few bullpen lessons, some basic long toss, long distance running, and the weight room. There is nothing about this training model that screams development, not even close!
Then I ask the questions – Did you get stronger and more elastic in your lesson? Are you learning a specific long toss program to enhance arm action and velocity or are you just “long tossing”. Are you developing into a healthier pitcher? Do you have a specific drill series to add velocity, because it can’t be achieved in a bullpen? Come to WBI and let us show you how to achieve all of this. We teach the same program as Arizona State University, Vanderbilt University, North Carolina Tar Heels, and many more.
The pitching program here at WBI emphasizes a more athletic approach to pitching. Correct pitching sequence or mechanics, arm action development, velocity training, and an extensive arm care curriculum are some of the areas covered at WBI. This combined with our Reverse Training techniques results in a healthier and more efficient arm. Pitchers will inherently see a dramatic spike in velocity as well. Here at WBI we are setting the standards for pitching development in the Northwest. Don’t delay, come join the best T.R.I.P in baseball today – Technique, Repetition, Intent, and Persistence.
